Element Snap

Element Snap is a Chrome extension that lets you capture visual elements from any webpage as high-quality images. This policy describes what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and what it does not do.

Data the extension accesses

Active page content. When the user initiates a capture, the extension accesses the DOM of the active tab to read computed styles, dimensions, shadows, and render the selected element to an image. This access occurs only upon user request and is never transmitted to any server.

User interaction during selection. The extension tracks mouse position and clicks to power the element selector (hover-to-preview, click-to-select). This data is processed in real time and is never stored or transmitted.

Authentication information. Lifetime license users may sign in with their Google account via Chrome Identity API. The extension stores only the authentication token needed to verify license status. No Google profile data (name, email, etc.) is accessed or stored.

Local storage

The extension uses chrome.storage.local to store user preferences (format, scale, background, margins), capture history (lifetime license users only), and license status. All data remains exclusively on the user's device and can be removed by uninstalling the extension or through Chrome's storage settings.

Third-party services

The extension communicates with the following services exclusively for authentication and license verification:

• Supabase — Google OAuth authentication. Only the Chrome Identity token is sent to exchange for a session.
• Our backend — License status verification and account management. No page content or browsing data is sent.
• Stripe — Payment processing for the lifetime license. Payment occurs on Stripe's secure page. The extension does not access credit card data or financial information.

No analytics services, trackers, advertising SDKs, or user behavior monitoring tools are used.

What Element Snap does not do

• Does not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
• Does not use user data for targeted advertising.
• Does not track the user's browsing history.
• Does not send captures or page content to external servers.
• Does not use user data for creditworthiness checks or financial activities.

Security

All image capture and processing occurs locally in the user's browser. Communications with the backend and Supabase use encrypted connections (HTTPS).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date will be revised and any substantial changes will be announced on the extension's Chrome Web Store page.
